Onboarding via Portal & Links

This page covers the no-code onboarding flows: manual invitations from the join dashboard and self-service onboarding links. For the programmatic flow see Onboarding via API, for the general pattern behind every onboarding see Merchant Onboarding.

What happens per model

Affiliate (join account):

  1. The merchant clicks your affiliate link or accepts your email invitation.
  2. They go through the standard wallee signup and choose (or are assigned) a subscription product. If no product is preassigned, they first land on the wallee pricing page to pick a plan.
  3. wallee creates a standard merchant account, tagged as referred by you.
  4. After email confirmation the partnership becomes active and your rewards apply as defined in your contract.

ISV (join platform):

  1. The merchant starts onboarding from inside your platform (e.g. an "Enable payments" button) or via your link.
  2. A new sub-account under your partner account is created, using the sell-rate pricing you configured.
  3. The merchant appears in your join dashboard; you monitor usage and revenue and provide first-line support as part of your own service.

Onboarding via the portal (manual mode)

From your join dashboard you can initiate an onboarding for a specific merchant — wallee sends them an invitation email on your behalf. For join account partnerships, a standard wallee account is created for the merchant; for join platform partnerships, a new sub-account under your partner account is created.

Onboarding links let merchants sign up in self-service — place them on your website, in campaigns, in social media posts or inside your app. Links are generated automatically once your partner configuration is activated and are managed in the portal under Account Settings → Subscriptions & Affiliate links. They are available per pricing profile sell rate and are shortened for easy sharing (e.g. https://app-wallee.com/j/nAlOR01R).

  • Product-specific links — one link per subscription product and pricing profile. The merchant lands directly in the signup for that product.
  • Generic link — one link that sends the merchant to the wallee pricing page to choose a plan themselves. The pricing page localises automatically based on the merchant's browser location.
  • One link per pricing profile sell rate. The merchant is onboarded as a sub-account under your platform.

Linking existing accounts

Existing accounts can be linked to a join program retroactively — either to connect an independent account to a partnership or to correct a wrong setup.

  • Affiliate: only existing regular accounts can be linked.
  • ISV: only existing sub-accounts can be linked.

Linking is available in the partnerships page of the portal or via the Partnerships API. When an account joins a program, its current subscription product is automatically added to the partner product configuration if missing.

Onboarding status

You can track every onboarding in the join dashboard (active, pending, etc.) or query it programmatically via the merchant application status endpoint.
