Getting Started
Welcome to the wallee documentation. wallee is a Swiss payment platform that lets you accept payments online, in-store on terminals and at unattended machines — all managed from one portal, with one contract and consolidated reporting. This section takes you from creating your account to accepting your first payment.
New to wallee? Follow the five steps below — most merchants are ready to accept test payments in under an hour.
Choose your path
- I am a merchant
- I am a developer
- I am a partner
You want to accept payments and manage your business in the wallee portal — no coding required.
- Create an account and log in to the portal.
- Learn how your account and spaces are organised in the Account Structure chapter.
- Activate your payment methods and connect your sales channel (webshop plugin, payment links or terminal).
Most day-to-day topics — transactions, refunds, settlements — are covered in the Payments and Reconciliation / Accounting sections.
You want to integrate wallee into a website, app or platform.
- Explore the Web Service API reference and the interactive API client.
- Use the official SDKs on GitHub (PHP, Java, Python, C#, TypeScript and more) or ready-made shop plugins.
- Create an application user with an API key — see Users, Roles and Invites.
- Subscribe to webhooks to react to transaction state changes.
Everything integration-related lives in the Developer Tools section.
You want to refer merchants or embed payments into your own product (agency, SaaS, ISV).
- Read about wallee join, our partner platform — models, pricing concepts and API-driven merchant onboarding: see the Wallee Join section.
- Onboard your customers via portal, onboarding links or fully via API.
From zero to your first payment
-
Create your account
Sign up with your email address — an account and a space are created automatically and you start on a free trial. See Create an Account for a step-by-step guide with screenshots.
-
Get to know account & space
Your account holds your plan, billing and users; your space is where the operational work happens: transactions, terminals, settlements and settings. See Account Structure.
-
Configure payment methods
In your space, activate the payment methods you need (cards, TWINT, Apple Pay, Google Pay and more) and connect them to a processor. wallee routes every transaction through a standardized process, whatever the method.
-
Connect your sales channel
Install a shop plugin, send payment links, order a terminal or integrate via API — online, in-store and unattended channels all run in the same space.
-
Test and go live
Use test transactions to verify your setup end-to-end, then switch to live processing. Keep an eye on manual tasks — they tell you when something needs your decision.

To accept live payments, activate your account:
- Register your organisation — company details, legal form and beneficial owners (UBOs).
- Complete the digital identity verification (KYC) — all legal representatives are guided through the online identification.
- Final review & activation — once approved, your selected payment methods are activated and your subscription starts.
Processing times, required documents and the detailed onboarding steps are described in the Onboarding chapter of the Payments section.
