Processors

A processor is the party that technically processes your payments — wallee itself or a third-party provider. A connector then links a payment method (e.g. Visa, TWINT) with a processor, which is what enables transactions to be processed. Setting up a processor is therefore the first step towards accepting payments.

If you are unsure how processors, payment methods and connectors relate to each other, read the chapter overview Processors, Payment Methods and Connectors first — it explains the three entities and how they depend on each other.

info

wallee supports a large number of processors — from acquirers and PSPs such as Adyen, Datatrans, Worldline or PayPal to wallet and local payment providers. The complete, filterable list is available in the processor reference.

Set up a processor

  1. In your space, go to Settings > Processors.
  2. Create the processor you want to use. We recommend using the setup wizard.
  3. Once the processor is created, choose the connectors (payment methods) you want to enable for it.
info

Before you can accept e-commerce payments, you must have a contract or credentials for each processor. Once you click Go-Live, you will see exactly what is required.

info

If you want to accept POS transactions and already have an existing acceptance contract, you do not need to create a new payment contract.

E-commerce configuration

In the processor configuration you can generally specify the following settings:

  • Activation — activate or deactivate the processor configuration. When it is deactivated, all connector configurations linked to it are no longer considered for authorizing transactions. A deactivated configuration can be activated again at any time.
  • Mode switching — switch between live and test mode.
  • Credentials — set the credentials needed to use the processor's API. These are the credentials provided by the processor.

You can have multiple instances of the same processor. This allows you to use different accounts of the same processor depending on transaction properties such as amount or country. Which instance is used is decided by the conditions and the priority you set on the connectors — see Connector Configuration.
