User, Account and Space
To create a user account, sign up on PostFinance Checkout using your email address and a password. Each user can manage multiple accounts and spaces. To access an existing account, use the login page.
Account
To begin receiving payments, you need an account. An account is automatically created when you register on PostFinance Checkout. You can rename your account at any time. Each account has a unique ID, which our customer support and sales teams use for identification.
To add a new account for an existing user, click the + in the lower-left corner of any view after logging in. To access an existing account with an existing user, see Users, Roles and Invites.
In your account, you find an overview of your:
- Plan — details of the features you use and their costs.
- Billing information — your billing address and payment method.
- Invoices — access to your invoices.
- Financial balance — overview of your financial balance. See Wallee Payments for detailed information.
Additional (optional) tasks
- Register your organization — see the Onboarding chapter.
- Manage users — under Account > Users; see Users, Roles and Invites.
- Manage payment contracts — see Payment Contracts.
Space
Your space is the centre of all your operational activities. It offers a much broader functionality scope than your account and provides a variety of different functionalities. Spaces are completely isolated from each other: data and configurations cannot be shared between spaces.
In your space, you primarily have an overview of your:
- Transactions from your different sales channels — see Transaction States to understand the states a transaction moves through.
- Terminal configurations and TIDs — see Terminal Configuration for details.
- E-commerce integrations
- Settlements
- Manual tasks — see Manual Tasks to learn how they work.
- Settings — the settings menu offers a variety of features and functionalities. The combination of your product plan and the configured space features defines what is visible here.
Using different spaces
If you operate completely separate webshops with different databases, you should use two distinct spaces. Some merchants also prefer to create a separate space for each location. Additional spaces are created under Account > Spaces > Spaces. Note that running multiple spaces may slightly increase your monthly fees.
Example: Suppose you run an online shop selling products and, separately, manage a small call center offering different services. In this scenario, it may be beneficial to use a separate space for each use case.
If your shops share the same configuration and differ only in presentation — such as currency or language — use Space Views instead of separate spaces.
Limitations
By default, there is a limit on the number of spaces allowed per account. If you exceed this limit and need additional spaces or space views, please contact our support team. We will assess whether the limit can be raised for your account.
