Journal and Entries
๐งฎ Transaction-Level Accountingโ
Once the accounting module is activated in PostFinance Checkout, the system creates a dedicated Account Receivable for every transaction. These entries can be inspected directly by opening the respective transaction in the Space > Accounts > Journal.

๐ Viewing Transaction-Level Entriesโ
Each transaction includes detailed accounting records. In order to access them just open a transaction and on the transaction you find the different book-keeping entries

- ๐ผ An Account Receivable (Debtor Tool) is opened at the moment of sale
- ๐งพ If tax is applied, a corresponding tax booking is created
- ๐ณ Upon settlement via acquirer or incoming bank transfer, a counter booking is generated
- ๐ธ If applicable, a payment fee is booked alongside the settlement
๐ง All accounting data is visible directly within the transaction view, or globally via Space > Accounting > Journal Entries.
โ๏ธ Manual Bookings (Not Recommended)โ
In some edge cases, bookings may not be created automatically. In this case, entries can be created manually per transaction.
To do so:
- Open the transaction
- Navigate to the Record Bank Transaction section
- Create a new manual bank entry if an outstanding amount is present
โ ๏ธ Warning: Once created, bank transactions cannot be edited or deleted.
We strongly recommend avoiding manual creation of bank transactions unless absolutely necessary. The preferred method is to import settlement files.
๐ Journal Entry Structureโ
When a transaction is processed in PostFinance Checkout and the accounting module is enabled, the system creates corresponding journal entries that follow a double-entry principle. These entries can be inspected directly in the transaction view or under Space > Accounting > Journal Entries.
Below is a real-world example of such a journal structure.
Please note in order to get the tax reporting you need to provide the tax as line item on the transaction.
